Song Lyrics
Verse 1
Peter was born with Defence in his blood
His father fought in World War One
So, when people asked him about his dreams
That little boy said, “The Rising Sun!”
Verse 2
Peter undertook his training course
He proved that he was really tough
The military was an important job
But surely it just wasn’t enough
Pre-Chorus 1
Mum loved Dad, And he loved her
So, three months later they got married in a church
Chorus 1
My dad’s a Major in the Army
He’s serving the nation every day
Taking charge of very serious things
So secret I can’t really say
My dad’s a Major in the Army
A very special V.I.P.
But more than anything in the world
I’m really happy he loves me
Verse 3
As Private Peter, Dad did serve
Then got a university degree
Became an Officer and got better pay
While Mum had her first baby
Verse 4
Dad found out that we had no one
And didn’t want us to be alone
So he talked it over with our Mum
And they gave us a brand new home
Pre-Chorus 2
Nobody at school ever gives me trouble
‘Cause they know my Major will be there on the double
Chorus 2
My dad’s a Major in the Army
He’s serving the nation every day
Taking charge of very serious things
So secret I can’t really say
My dad’s a Major in the Army
A very special V.I.P.
But more than anything in the world
I’m really happy he loves me
Bridge Verse
At work they call him ‘Sir’, At home I call him ‘Dad’
And even though he’s really strict, He’s really not so bad
He calls us ‘Little Troopers’, Marching through the day
We’ve got to stick together, And we’ll get through O.K.
Chorus 3
My dad’s a Major in the Army
He’s serving the nation every day
Taking charge of very serious things
So secret I can’t really say
My dad’s a Major in the Army
A very special V.I.P.
But more than anything in the world
I’m really happy he loves me
Chorus 4
My dad’s a Major in the Army
He’s serving the nation every day
Taking charge of very serious things
So secret I can’t really say
My dad’s a Major in the Army
A very special V.I.P.
But more than anything in the world
I’m really happy he loves me
Tag
He knows the meaning of family
I’m really happy he loves me
I’m really happy he loves, I’m really happy he loves me
I’m really happy he loves me
